MY STORYI was saved in the year 2000. My parents were separated and were on the brink of divorce during that long summer before entering fifth grade. That's when my dad started to go to church and soon became a believer. It wasn't too long until my parents got back together and I was dragged to the First Baptist Church of Archie every Sunday morning and Wednesday night. I'm glad that I went when I would have rather slept in and played video games. Through TeamKid I was constantly exposed to the Gospel and what it meant to be a follower of Jesus. One night it finally became real to me when I knelt down beside my bed and prayed to God and accepted Jesus as my savior. It was then my journey with God began. In junior-high I was teased a lot. I was a bit nerdy back then and had a short fuse. I felt like an outcast a lot of times and I became depressed. My self-esteem was almost non-existent, but God was with me. My teenage years were an emotional roller-coaster. I secluded myself from most people and didn't talk much. I had a tendency of getting in trouble in the past because of my big mouth, so I chose to shut up. Some of my popularity was just based on the fact that I was on the football team. Some who I thought were my friends turned out to be fake. I didn't really start to grow in my faith until I reached college. I soon realized that I had a passion for music and drama. I have been to the Philippines for three weeks serving as a member of the Clear Vision International drama team. My mission experience opened my eyes to how God can use even me to do incredible things and how powerful of a tool drama and dance can be (over nine hundred decisions for Christ was reported). Have you ever seen a group break-dance for Jesus? I have and they were the most amazing people ever. I am a senior at Southwest Baptist University pursuing a B.S. in international business. After graduation I plan on working as a full-time missionary wherever God leads me. |
